Herbs That Help with Fibromyalgia
I don’t recommend that anyone just randomly begin taking these herbs, but instead they should consult with a competent natural endocrine doctor first. After all, different people will require different herbs, as well as different dosages.
I am not a Doctor nor Do I claim to know everything of medical knowledge But from doing research and talking to people who have Fibromyalgia asking them what they tried and maybe this information can be used to help you
before taking herbs to treat a medical condition always ALWAYS consult a doctor
I am not promising a Cure or make it go away but these herbs can HELP you live a more productive and pain free life
What Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes muscle pain and fatigue (feeling tired). People with fibromyalgia have “tender points” on the body. Tender points are specific places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs. These points hurt when pressure is put on them.
People with fibromyalgia may also have other symptoms, such as:
Trouble sleeping
Morning stiffness
Headaches
Painful menstrual periods
Tingling or numbness in hands and feet
Problems with thinking and memory (sometimes called “fibro fog”).
Remember, Consult a Doctor before trying any of these herbs I am not a doctor I do not know if they will work for you
most if not all these herbs are available in any healthfood store or supermarket and in powder and tea forms
Cat's Claw Tinctures
Fibromyalgia pain is often accompanied by anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, and insomnia
The healing alkaloids in cat's claw tinctures are released from tannins by the action of acid in the stomach. If they are absorbed through the tongue, they lose their effect. For this reason, you should always take cat's claw tincture with at least 6 ounces (3/4 cup) of water to avoid absorption through the tongue. You can add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or 1 teaspoon of vinegar to the water to increase the acidity of the solution. When brewing Cat's claw as a tea, add lemon
Chamomile:
This is a calming fibromyalgia herb that can help induce sleep, lessen anxiety, decrease menstrual cramps and may even boost the immune system.
Echinacea:
Supports the immune system and may help prevent infections. Take at the first sign of a cold to boost your immune system. This is a studied case where it is not recommended for children because the herb seems to work differently in children.
Cayenne:
Cayenne contains capsaicin which offers the long term benefit of reducing the intensity of pain signals sent from the nerves, and may be one of the best topical therapies for fibro. Using cayenne oil in combination with menthol works like an herbal "icy/hot" treatment.
Can help relieve migraine or tension headaches. It is used for muscle pain when made into a salve or ointment.
Ginger:
Can be used to calm an upset stomach. May have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. also great for blood pressure and pain and swelling and shutting off the pain receptors of the body
Increases energy and relieves stress. It is important to look for Panax Ginseng with ginsenocides of around 10% for a quality supplement. Be buyer aware! Studies show that some ginseng extract actually allow very little to be absorbed by your system in order to get results. Consult your doctor because there are contraindications where you do not want to take this herb.
Can reduce inflammation. Also used to detoxify. Not recommended for long-term use. One week to one month is all the longer I would use this.
Grape seed extract.
The oil in the seeds of wine grapes contains powerful antioxidants and natural anti-inflammatory compounds called procyanidins. They may help to inhibit the inflammatory response, which is responsible for muscle pain and soreness in some people.
Cannabis
The THC found in Cannabis may help to decrease chronic pain in patients with fibromyalgia. countless studies have been done that proves this
In addition, most people with fibromyalgia who have tried medicinal marijuana for symptoms including pain, depression, and insomnia report that medical marijuana is effective and has few side effects.
Medical marijuana for Fibromyalgia patients works well due to the natural pain relieving properties of THC and other cannabinoids found in cannabis. A 2006 study found that THC, a primary substance found in medical marijuana, reduced both chronic pain and experimentally induced pain by at least 50 percent in all patients who completed the THC therapy trial. In addition, clinical trials found that Nabilone, a synthetic medical marijuana pill, reduced pain and anxiety significantly in Fibromyalgia patients.

Kava kava:
Helps with anxiety and nervousness,.pain and digestion but some people are allergic to it so check with a doctor to make sure your not allergic
Lavender:
Relieves insomnia, depression, and can help with headaches. Generally, this scent is inhaled to give the benefits of aromatherapy.
Licorice:
Supports the adrenal glands, aids in digestion, and can reduce pain and inflammation .
Melissa Herb (Lemon Balm)
helps reduce tension, stress Anxiety and cramping in muscles
The traditional Chinese practice of moxibustion involves the burning of mugwort to stimulate the flow of qi and fast relief from aching muscles and sore points. You will often be able to receive this treatment from an acupuncture clinic. At home you can light a "cigar" rolled with dried mugwort, and bring the glowing end near the painful area and move it around in small, slow spirals until the heat becomes too intense. Pain relief often lasts for twelve or more hours. Mugwort also makes a very grounding and relaxing tea.
Rosemary
Rosemary for pain relief and circulation.
Rosemary is such an extremely useful herb, with so many culinary, medicinal and aromatherapy attributes that it is hard to qualify which ones are the most important. Rosemary stimulates the central nervous system and circulation making it beneficial for low blood pressure and sluggishness. Rosemary oil and rosemary essential oil are used to alleviate the pain of sprains, arthritis, sciatica and neuralgia
Rosemary infused oil and rosemary essential oil are both used in massage oil formulations to relieve the pain of arthritis and of sore aching muscles. Rosemary used as a massage oil also helps to tone the circulatory system. Antioxidant compounds in rosemary prevent uterine spasms and menstrual cramps. Rosemary essential oil helps alleviate water retention and increases circulation when used in massage blends.
Pine Bark:
comes in dried form and in powdered form
Reduces inflammation, pain Can help with circulation and pain.
Passionflower:
Helps with insomnia, stress, and anxiety.Milk Thistle: Supports the liver and aids in its regeneration thus improving the immune system and hormone production.
Dong quai:
can be effective in regulating female problems related to the menstrual cycle. Do not use if you are or may become pregnant. It can cause the uterus to contract, triggering a miscarriage.
Saw Palmetto:
can help men with urinary flow problems.
St. John's Wort:
Can be as effective for some as Prozac for treating mild depression without as many side effects. It is not recommended for major depression, but can help lift your mood effectively if mild depression is your problem. There is increased risk of skin damage when exposed to the sun, so use lots of sunscreen when taking this. Do not combine St. John's Wort with any antidepressant medications.
Willowbark
A daily cup or two of willow bark tea provides the equivalent of a low aspirin dose, without the stomach upset that aspirin can cause. It can take a few weeks to build up in your system before you notice a difference.
Combinations of Herbs
other herbs that can be of help
In a holistic approach, diet is always going to be important. eating lots of fresh vegetables, less red meat, sugar, caffeine, polyunsaturated vegetable oils and sources of trans-fatty acids such as margarine and hydrogenated oils. Supplement with Evening Primrose Oil Caps and omega-3 fatty acids from sardines and flax seeds.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D isn't just for the bones. Some researchers have attributed fibromyalgia, as well as generalized aches and pains not associated with fibromyalgia, to a vitamin D deficiency
Melatonin
Commonly used as an alternative to prescription sleep aids, melatonin, a naturally occurring hormone that helps regulate the sleep-wake cycle, can be beneficial to some patients with fibromyalgia
Ginkgo, bilberry hawthorn, with B-vitamins can improve memory and the ability to make decisions.Fibromyalgia herbs can sometimes be combined with other herbs plus key nutrients to be very effective in treating various conditions.
Black cohosh, flaxseed, and soy isoflavones can help with pain and inflammation and also help with menopausal symptoms if low estrogen is your problem. May help balance all hormones.
Saw Palmetto combined with pumpkin seed oil and phytosterols can be more effective in supporting prostate health than saw palmetto by itself.
Milk thistle, turmeric, dandelion, with reishi mushroom can help with symptoms
Thyme Linalol, Peppermint, Spike Lavender & Helichrysum diluted into St. John’s Wort Oil. Essential oils are applied externally for muscle pain.
Boswellia with safflower extract can help with pain relief without the adverse side effects of other pain relievers. This is an alternative to the recently pulled Vioxx and the other arthritis medications currently under investigation because of the long-term detrimental effects of Vioxx.
Feverfew, Turmeric & Black Cohosh. for pain relief
Echinacea, black elderberry, larch tree, and zinc combined all support a healthy immune response when you feel pain symptoms coming on.
Ginger and Licorice together can better help calm an upset stomach.
Lavender combined with vanilla can promote a deeper sleep through their aromas.
Valerian, chamomile, and passionflower in combination can be more effective than valerian alone for improved sleep.
calendula blossoms, valerian, chicory root ,st. john's wort, devil's claw root
Can be made into an herbal tonic or tea to help combat pain symptoms

This is one of the best home remedies I've tried for providing both burn relief and healing. and the tea can help soothe your skin. Placing cold tea tea bags on the eyelids and affected areas can help reduce inflammation and sting. Try soaking a sponge with the cooled tea and applying it to the sunburned areas.
